EG.D (E.ON Distribuce): Implementation of a non-SAP data warehouse and integration with SAP systems via MS SQL

We took part in one of the largest non-SAP data warehouse implementations for E.ON Distribuce (now EG.D), helping unify reporting across the organization.

E.ON decided to modernize its reporting and develop a new data warehouse based on the Microsoft SQL platform, while continuing to use SAP BusinessObjects as the primary reporting tool. Our company, MIBCON, participated in the creation of this comprehensive solution, which integrates data from both SAP and non-SAP systems.

The goal of the project was to design a new data warehouse that would better reflect the reporting needs of various E.ON Distribution departments. The new DWH was built using Microsoft SQL technology, with SAP IS-U and ERP systems remaining the primary data sources, supplemented by other technical information systems. Reporting is delivered through the SAP BusinessObjects environment, maintaining the structure and logic of E.ON’s existing data flows.

One of the major challenges was the technical and logical integration of the SAP and Microsoft environments. MIBCON contributed across several stages of the project, each focused on a specific reporting domain — from investment and maintenance reporting, to financial accounting, asset management, and technical performance evaluation. At the data warehouse level, data was consolidated into clearly structured units suitable for analytical use.

The result is an open and scalable reporting system that consolidates data from multiple sources and adapts to users’ specific needs. The new reports support efficient management of processes such as equipment maintenance, asset activation, and risk-based planning. The project successfully unified reporting into a single environment and laid the groundwork for future expansion.
