Data Quality Reporting for ESG at E.ON Czech Republic

E.ON Czech Republic enhanced the credibility of its ESG data by introducing a systematic data quality management framework. In collaboration with MIBCON a.s., the company implemented data quality controls directly within ETL processes and established transparent reporting, gaining a unified view of data quality, accelerating error detection, and minimizing risks associated with decision-making based on inaccurate information.

E.ON Czech Republic has historically worked with data from multiple sources, which were consolidated into a data warehouse and used for reporting purposes, including ESG.

However, the company lacked a unified approach to data quality control, posing a risk to the accuracy of reports and subsequent decision-making. The objective of the project was therefore to establish a systematic data quality management framework and ensure transparent monitoring.

The solution involved implementing data quality controls directly within the ETL layer using SAP Data Services. Rules were defined for key data quality dimensions, such as completeness, accuracy, consistency, and uniqueness.

The controls are executed automatically during data processing, with identified errors logged into a central repository. The results are then presented in a clear and structured format through Power BI reporting.

This approach enabled the company to establish a unified data quality management model that supports early detection of issues, rapid analysis, and effective remediation. As a result, business users work with validated and consistent data, increasing trust in reporting, reducing the time required to resolve issues, and supporting informed decision-making. The solution is designed for further scalability, including expansion to additional data domains and reporting areas.
